Metcam installed a new 10 foot, 130 ton press brake. It is the first Hurco pressbrake sold in the U.S., and is complete with Hurco backgages and controllers. Metcam also installed new Hurco controllers and backgages on all five of its existing Amada press brakes. One reason for this investment was to enable the sharing of set-up files between all six press brakes via a shop floor LAN. This allows us to create a common setup/tooling library for the parts we manufacture regularly. This library can be updated and accessed by all of our pressbrakes, which results in shorter setup times and greater flexibility to move jobs among our pressbrakes. This system is the first such system installed by Hurco.
