ALPHARETTA, GA., 6/19/20– Metcam, a metro Atlanta-based fabricator of sheet metal components and assemblies for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), is proud to announce that President Bruce Hagenau has been elected to the Georgia Association of Manufacturers’ (GAM) board of directors. His two-year term was announced at the 120th Annual Meeting of GAM in early May.

“Given the critical role manufacturing has in Georgia, it’s so important that all manufacturers in the state work together to enhance our competitiveness in a global marketplace,” Hagenau said. “Our efforts now through the Georgia Association of Manufacturers not only affect job opportunities, the growth of our communities and our livelihoods, they will also influence future generations.”

Metcam’s president regularly contributes considerable time and effort to support the growth of manufacturing in Georgia, including workforce development. He is an advisory board member for the Technology Association of Georgia’s Supply Chain, Logistics and Manufacturing Society; Next Generation Manufacturing of Georgia; and Georgia Quick Start.

Hagenau was also elected to serve an identical term on the board of directors of The Manufacturers Education Foundation (MEF), which provides scholarships and other support for Georgia Tech and the Technical College System of Georgia to benefit students on the manufacturing career path. The tireless educational proponent also serves on the Engineering and Technology Advisory Council at Forsyth County Schools. His company has hosted high school STEM students during Manufacturing Day on multiple occasions andsponsors the Forsyth County Manufacturing Society, which brings the local business community, local educators (high school and above) and students together around manufacturing.

Rick Hooper, chief counsel of Shaw Industries Group; Mike Ecker, executive vice president of Tara Materials; and Pate Huguley, president and CEO of West Point Industries, were elected GAM chairman, vice chairman and treasurer, respectively. Effective July 1, Roy Bowen will serve as chief executive officer of GAM and MEF and Mike Coan will be president.

Since its founding in 1900, GAM has represented the interests of Georgia manufacturers before the General Assembly, the Georgia Public Service Commission and other state agencies, helping member companies address the issues most critical to their profitability. The Association promotes and depends upon a culture of engagement, bringing the intelligence and strengths of its members to meet challenges through the power of its broad and diverse roster of companies. Recent legislative and regulatory accomplishments have yielded in excess of $300 million in annual tax, energy and other savings to Georgia manufacturers.
